Determining Right Hand or Left Hand, Manufacture Date And Ratio
When looking at the speed reducer output shaft, the side that the C face adapter is on determines whether the reducer is a RH or LH. For example, if the adapter is on the right side, the speed reducer is a RH assembly. (As shown below)
Also, there is a tag beneath the input shaft that shows the ratio and RH or LH (see above picture). If the tag is missing, the ratio can be determined by manually turning the input shaft and counting the number of revolutions it takes to turn the output shaft. For example, if you turn the input shaft 30 revolutions for one revolution of the output shaft, the ratio is 30:1.
Another way to fine the ratio is to look at the end of the output shaft for three stamped numbers. The first number denotes the ratio. See below.
